Carrol Lake Campground is a gorgeous camping destination in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest. It is right in the heart of the Northwoods with easy access to many of the Northwoods communities nearby. The campground is located in between Woodruff and St. Germain, Wisconsin.

Carrol Lake is a 352-acre lake open for motorized traffic. The lake is known for its good fishing for both panfish and game fish. The campground offers a small beach area for families to enjoy. A larger beach area is available at the nearby Clear Lake picnic area.

Carrol Lake Campground offers 19 campsites, 1 of which is available to reserve as double sites and accommodate up to 12 people. The campground also has 7 walk-to/tent only sites. There are no electric sites in the campground, however generators are allowed to run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A State Parks and Forest Admission Sticker is required for camping. There are 2 hand pumps available for drinking water. There are also 2 pit toilets located throughout the campground as well.

Carrol Lake Campground is on Highway J which has bike lanes that go to St Germain and Woodruff. In addition, there are some excellent hiking opportunities nearby to explore. Some of these trails include: the Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trail, Razorback Ridges, the Escanaba Trail & the Fallison Lake Trail.

Carrol Lake Campground is a reservation only campground, so make sure you visit their website and see what is available. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance of your stay. This is a terrific option if you want to be centrally located around the Northwoods communities of Woodruff, Minocqua and St. Germain!
