This trail is open to hikers in the warm months and snowshoers in the winter months. Cross-country skiing is also possible but it is not a groomed trail and there are some stairs that you will need to walk down

The Boulder Junction and Sayner areas are well known for there beauty. The trail loops around Fallison Lake providing great views of the mixed coniferous/deciduous forest. You will also cross a bog along a portion of the trail. Keep an eye out for local wildlife like eagles, beavers,  loons or osprey.

The Fallison Lake Trail System is made up by four loops of differing sizes.  The red loop is the longest a 2.34 and allows you to see everything the area has to offer. The other loops are smaller segments of the red loop. You can view the DNR map by following the link at the bottom of the page.

This trail system is free to use and you do not need to have a state park pass as with other trails in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest. The park service asks that pets not be allowed on the trail. There is a beautiful picnic area and hemlock tree glade at the far end of the red loop that you can stop at to break up the hike. Please make sure to carry out all waste from your trip.
