The Lumberjack Trail System is located in Boulder Junction, WI about 5 minutes outside of town. The trail network features beautiful scenic trails for hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing. Snowshoers and fat tire bikers are also welcome in the winter time.
The trail system is comprised of three trails ranging in lengths of 2.9 (Green), 4.5 (Blue), and 5.9 miles (Red). Additionally there is a Red connector trails that links the Lumberjack Trail System with the Escanaba Trail System. This connector trail is 1.5 miles in length. This trail is a mixture of partially groomed and partially packed trails in the Winter.
Boulder Junction is well known for it beauty while being just off the beaten path of highway 51. You will enjoy easy to moderate trails that wind along the edge of the Manitowish River, the Fishtrap Flowage and White Sand Lake. This trail network also allows backcountry camping with a permit.
The Lumberjack Trail is a fee based part of the Wisconsin State Park system and requires all bikers aged 16+ to pay either the annual $25 state park pass or use the self-help station and fill out a $5 day pass to use the trails. These fees are used for grooming and maintenance and the park service appreciates your support!
