Trail Map

The Nicolet North Trails are a local favorite of cross country skiers, hikers and mountain bikers. This trail system is located in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and offers a variety of evergreen and hardwood trees to enjoy along with an abundance of wildlife.

The trail system is comprised of approximately 15 miles of trail network that are groomed for cross country skiing in the Winter. Both classic and skate lanes are available. The Nicolet North trails also connect to the Anvil Lake Trails so you can extend your ski outing if you so desire.

Pets are allowed to accompany you as long as they are kept on a leash and they are kept off the groomed ski trails in the winter. All trails are designated as intermediate for hikers, mountain bikers and cross country skiers.

You can find the Nicolet North Trailhead off of Butternut Lake Road near Three Lakes, Wisconsin. A small parking lot (can accommodate up to 5 vehicles) is located just off the road on the west side of the trailhead. Please use the location link on this page to get directions. There is a $5 day use fee or you can purchase the $30 annual fee for access to National Forests. This money is used to maintain and groom the trail system.
