The Washburn Lake Trails are a great option for all season fun in the Rhinelander, WI area. They are located only 6 miles west of town and offer great groomed cross country ski trails in the winter and excellent single and two track mountain bike trails in the warmer months.
In winter you can enjoy some excellent cross country skiing at the Washburn Lake Ski Trails. There are multiple loops that offer both classic and skate options either together or independently. The trail system also has loops dedicated to snowshoeing. The ski trails are always groomed in a timely manner but if you are ever in doubt, feel free to use the link below to view the latest conditions.
The rest of the year you can enjoy excellent mountain biking and hiking on the Washburn Lake Trails. They feature 5 miles of double track trail for novice to intermediate riders as well as 6 miles of single track trails for more adventurous riders. The trails are maintained by volunteers with the Rhinelander Area Silent Trails Association (RASTA). So if you see a volunteer, be sure and say thank you!
The Washburn Lake Trails wind through a beautiful hardwood forest with lots of birch, aspen, maple and the occasional pine forest. The terrain is rolling hills and the ski trails are suitable for intermediate and advanced-level skiers. Visitors are welcome to use a very nice, modern warming building at the Perch Lake Park trailhead with heated floors and a small curtained-off area for changing.
