Muskellunge (Musky) Lake Campground is one of the most popular camping destination in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest. It is a centrally-located campground that offers easy access to many of the Northwoods communities nearby. The campground is located in between Sayner and Boulder Junction, Wisconsin and is located very close to Crystal Lake Campground.

Muskellunge Lake is a huge, 897-acre lake with a boat launch and amazing fishing opportunities. Musky Lake offers great musky (obviously), panfish, largemouth bass and walleye fishing. The campground is located adjacent to Crystal Lake
and the Crystal Lake Campground. A sandy beach for swimming can be
found at nearby Crystal Lake picnic area.

Musky Lake Campground offers 81 campsites, 6 of which are available to reserve as double sites and accommodate up to 12 people. The campground has one ADA compliant site. There are no electric sites in the campground, however generators are allowed to run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A State Parks and Forest Admission Sticker is required for camping. There are 3 hand pumps available for drinking water, one of which is ADA compliant. There are also 3 vault toilets located throughout the campground as well as one building with flush toilets and ADA compliant showers. Firewood is also available nearby at Crystal Lake Visitor Station.

There are some excellent hiking and biking opportunities nearby to explore. Some of these trails include: the Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trail, Razorback Ridges, the Escanaba Trail & the Fallison Lake Trail.

Musky Lake Campground is a reservation only campground, so make sure you visit their website and see what is available. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance of your stay. This is a very popular campground in northern Wisconsin and reservations go quickly, so don't hesitate to book your stay and enjoy this campground in the heart of the Northwoods.
