Luna White Deer Campground is a gorgeous campground operated by the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest Service. It is located about 20 miles east of Eagle River, Wisconsin. This is a great balance between remote camping while still being a relatively short drive into town for supplies or activities.

The campground offers 37 non-electric sites to choose from. Some campsites can be reserved through the Recreation.gov website while others are set aside as first come, first served campsites. The majority of the campsites are open for RVs and tents however there are a couple sites that are tent only, so make sure to check before you make a selection. They are labeled on the Recreation.gov website which you can access below. The campground also offers pit toilets and drinking water is available.

One of the highlights of camping at the Luna White Deer Campground is its location between two quiet, clear lakes. Both Luna Lake and White Deer Lake are non-motorized lakes which makes them the perfect location for silent sport enthusiasts. Both lakes have non-motorized boat launches for canoes and kayaks. These lakes offer excellent year-round fishing opportunities for bass, perch, panfish and even some rainbow trout. Pets are allowed as well at the campground, but please be sure to keep them on a leash. Pets are not allowed on the beach area.

There are some excellent hiking opportunities nearby to explore the National Forest. Some of these trails include: Anvil Lake Trail, Franklin Nature Trail,  & Nicolet North Trails. In addition, the Hidden Lakes Trail passes right through Luna White Deer Campground. You can do all or a portion of this trail and enjoy scenic views of the lakes and surrounding area.

The campground is open from approximately April 29 through October 12.  If you are looking for a quiet, secluded getaway near Eagle River, Wisconsin, we know Luna White Deer Campground will not disappoint.
