Anvil Lake Campground is a very popular first come, first served campground operated by the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest Service. It is located only 10 miles east of Eagle River, Wisconsin. This provides an excellent spot to set up camp and explore all that the Eagle River area has to offer.
The campground offers 18 non-electric sites to choose from. Some are available as tent only sites, so make sure to check before you make a selection. They are labeled on the Recreation.gov website which you can access below. The campground also offers pit toilets and drinking water is available.
One of the highlights of camping at Anvil Lake Campground is Anvil Lake itself. With crystal clear water and a nice sandy beach area, you will be sure to enjoy your time spent out in the sun. There is also a paved boat launch and excellent year-round fishing opportunities on the lake. Pets are allowed as well, but please be sure to keep them on a leash. Pets are not allowed on the beach area.
There are some excellent hiking opportunities nearby to explore the National Forest. Some of these trails include: Anvil Lake Trail, Franklin Nature Trail, Hidden Lakes Trail, & Nicolet North Trails.
The campground is open from approximately April 29 through October 12. The next time you are visiting Eagle River, Wisconsin we highly recommend making camp at Anvil Lake Campground. You will be glad you did.
